Hi there! My name is Tim and I am currently studying for an MA at University of London. I have over 5 years of professional teaching and tutoring experience with students of all levels from Primary School to University. Although I have tutored subjects ranging from Introductory Spanish to A Level European History, I most frequently assist students with GCSE and A Level Maths and Chemistry. Besides teaching and learning, I love rock climbing, skiing, and perusing as many museums as I possibly can during my spare time.
University | Course | Qualification |
---|---|---|
Grinnell College | Chemistry | BA |
Grinnell College | History of Art | BA |
The Courtauld Institute of Art | History of Art | MA |
My initial tutoring experiences were as an undergraduate at Grinnell College where I was selected as a peer tutor for General and Organic Chemistry courses. This past year, as an Academic Coach at the Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy, I worked with elite student athletes- including a few Olympians- in Maths and Chemistry, customizing instruction around their training schedules. I find it absolutely essential to open up the material to "real world" connections allowing students to find real value and pride in their work. I always maintain a supportive and positive learning environment where students of all types feel comfortable trying new approaches to problems and thinking critically about their coursework. Over the course of my tutoring career, I have assisted 60+ students in reaching their goals time and time again in addition to re-enforcing the value of learning in general.
