I have been teaching in primary schools within both KS1 and KS2 for 6 years. I believe that all children have different strengths and I like to use their own individual interests to try to engage them in work tasks as this makes learning more fun and productive. I structure sessions by exploring what the child already knows about a topic and then tailoring the work activities to build on and extend this knowledge. I will always break tasks down into a set of steps to success which make it very easy for the child to understand exactly what is required of them, as well as enabling them to assess their own work to see what they have achieved and where they have room for improvement. I always try to maintain a positive atmosphere and build up the child's confidence as a learner, using different teaching styles and resources to aid them and celebrating their achievements.
