Hi! My name is Michael, and I currently work as an investment banker in the City of London. I studied Mathematics up to Master’s Degree level at Imperial College London and have tutored numerous students over the past 4 years. I went to a selective grammar school in Ilford. I really enjoy teaching because it allows me to connect with students and encourage them to overcome their limitations. I constantly challenge my students to think outside the box and always push them to go further than the school syllabus. I achieved an A* in GCSE Mathematics a year early, so know exactly how rewarding it feels to be pushed beyond the standards set by the academic establishment. I work in the investment banking industry using the maths I learned at university to provide client tailored solutions to commercial problems. I always use my experience to add the context behind the mathematics. This typically generates the excitement and enthusiasm needed to study an abstract subject like mathematics.

Having tutored several students in the past I do understand how students feel and how exactly students like to be taught. Something that some of the older styled teachers have become out of touch with. I try to make my teaching as fun and interesting, and love providing illustrations of real life practical examples! All of my previous students have met their target grades and have also gained the sufficient knowledge and confidence to perform in examinations. I have familiarity of the new GCSE maths syllabus for Edexcel, AQA and OCR as well as at A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics (New and Old) in the same exam boards. I can offer tutoring Monday to Friday in the evenings and all day during the weekend, I look forward to hearing from you.
