For over 6 years, I have been teaching numerous students Maths and English at Ks1-Ks4 whom are home educated and providing a supplementary tuition for those attending school. After working in a school environment as a Teaching Assistant /Support Teacher in schools I decided to work independently. I devise schemes of work according to each students individual needs and understand that education is not only about passing exams but also a long term personal investment. For instance, many children face challenges with literacy, especially expressing themselves in writing although their spoken English is fine. I encourage them to structure sentences similar to how they speak and then review their work by taking into consideration grammar and punctuation. Sometimes I will ask students to record their sentences, replay and then listen which enables them to identify errors not necessarily recognised by simply reading.
