Hi, I'm Matt. I'm a Student Secondary English Teacher at UCL Institute of Education. I have experience teaching KS3 and KS4 to students across two schools in London. I'm familiar with many popular KS4 texts, as well as the AQA Power and Conflict poetry anthology well and Edexcel Relationships anthology. I've gained a lot of experience teaching both Language papers too; I'll be able to identify quickly where students need to improve and design tasks in order to help them make significant progress. I'm patient, friendly and most importantly, I enjoy working with young people, helping them reach their full potential.

During my PGCE I haven't done any one-to-one tutoring, however I have worked with small groups designing tasks in order to help improve across a range of areas on the GCSE syllabus. In my previous role as a Teaching Assistant I took students out of lessons and worked through exam technique and understanding of fictional texts with them. Also, When I was a TEFL Teacher in Vietnam, I tutored a 15 year old student who was studying for her IELTS - an important exam for non-native speakers who want to work and travel abroad. She passed her exam with an impressive 7.5 score. I felt proud to have played a small part in helping her achieve that grade. I find tutoring to be extremely rewarding and effective. In a class of thirty students it can be difficult to meet the needs of every student; when tutoring on the other hand, areas of improvement can be quickly identified and work can be tailored towards the needs of that individual.
