Experienced Politics Tutor (Edexcel and OCR)

My name is Matt Stevens and I am a politics tutor based in London with two years of one-to-one tutoring experience at A-Level. After graduating with 1st class honours in Politics from The University of Sheffield, I went on to study for a Masters degree, also in Politics, at Sheffield's renowned post-graduate department. After graduating from my masters with a Distinction level MA, I have worked in e-commerce businesses and as a script writer for television before returning to politics to tutor at A-Level. I like to focus on two strands of tutoring; course content and exam technique, with both being as important as each other when it comes to gaining a good exam grade. I like to make my sessions as relaxed and stress free as possible while still staying focused on getting through the curriculum. I would also expect tutees to complete an assignment each week in their own time which we can then go over in detail during a session.

Tutoring Experience

I have been an A-Level Politics tutor for students across London for the past two years, with experience of both the OCR and Edexcel exam board curriculai (including the updated 2019 Edexcel specification). I have worked with students with a range of abilities, expectations and needs including home-schooled students, day pupils and boarders, as well as post-school age students re-taking exams for university entrance. My proudest achievement in tutoring has to be helping a 19-year old student go from a D grade to an A grade on his A-Level re-sits in the space of 3 months.
