About me

A qualified teacher since 1994 but upgraded in 2015 to a Post Graduate Certificate in higher education (Accounting, Finance and Banking)-level 7 masters. Also a qualified Accountant (ACCA) since 1975. Further to this I have an A1 assessors certificate, and am an OCR moderator. I teach all business related subjects at all levels (depending upon the subject) and am used to teaching different examining boards for A' Levels. Specialities include exam technique. As regards delivery of lessons I am very organised and methodical and like to plan my lessons thoroughly. Through a long background in business and commerce, I am able to bring lessons to life with amusing stories and anecdotes. I am caring and altruistic, and expect students to provide the same level of commitment to their studies as I am offering them, which also includes value for money.

Tutoring Experience

In the past 24 years have tutored hundreds of hours. Expertise in exam technique. A' level Grades of students have generally been "A" or "B" level. A recent student began with me having had a forecast of "U" grade, and in his exam he achieved a "B". A degree student approached me a week before his exams in management accounting and his chance of passing was zero. However, the student's strength was his logical thinking and we focused on exam technique, eliminating sections of the syllabus where he was unlikely to be examined, and focusing on topics where he was likely to be questioned. He achieved a first class pass. Learning style focuses on student understanding. although the quality of my material; which is provided free of charge, is first class. It is more important that students understand what a tutor tries to convey. I also look beyond a student’s syllabus to how he/she applies the learning in practice, thus bringing lessons to life.
