I’m an experienced English Language and English Literature tutor for KS3 and KS4 pupils, with some experience of tutoring primary school students. I have worked in three schools in teaching assistant roles and as a trainee teacher. In addition I have a First class degree in English Literature and a Masters with Distinction in English and Global Studies. I am enthusiastic, passionate about my subject and have wonderful interpersonal skills which allow me to achieve excellent results for my tutees. In all sessions I strive to keep to traditional lesson formats; following a structure of starter activity, introducing new knowledge, completing main activity, assessing new knowledge and additional stretch and challenge tasks. Most importantly I always integrate my students interests and strive to make the sessions as fun and exciting as possible!

I have over six months of experience working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in English. In this role I supported SEND and behaviourally challenging pupils in classroom environments to ensure learning, participation and accessibility. I also taught small groups of pupils to prepare for GCSE exams and for intervention purposes. I have also provided bespoke private tuition in GCSE English Language and English Literature. As a private tutor I always seek to collaborate with students and parents to determine student needs, develop tutoring plans and assess progress. I also aim to make the sessions as exciting and fun as possible, integrating student interests. Furthermore, I have completed the TeachFirst summer institute training programme and have worked as a Trainee Teacher of English for three months at a secondary school in Manchester. I taught KS3 and KS4 classes, designed accessible lessons to build knowledge sequentially and monitored pupil progress.
