I am a vocal student learning classical/operatic technique under Sophie Grimmer, a highly respected vocal teacher based at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, with more than 20 years of teaching experience. The techniques I teach my own students are therefore informed by what I have learnt in my own lessons, but of course catered to the individual's needs and dependant on their current vocal ability. As well as teaching appropriate songs, I like to work with the emphasis on breath and exercises so that students begin to understand their bodies and how to create a healthy sound. This is the best way to discover the unique qualities of their own voice. Drama too is an integral part of our training as a singer, so I will also work on the performance side of singing and can suggest ways to deal with potential performance anxiety.

I studied voice and academic music at Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, before moving to London to continue studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. I began singing and performing when I was 9 years old, finding such joy in music, which I want to share with all my students. I am currently studying for a Bachelors with Honours degree in vocal performance at Trinity and have an ATCL vocal performance diploma. Much of my work so far has been with children, who I particularly love working with, and for which I have an approved DBS check. It is very important to me that a child learns the joy of music and singing from a young age as I did, so I am conscious to make the environment fun and nurturing so that learning can be optimised... But of course, this ethos is not only exclusive to the child!
