I love studying Maths and Physics and am very keen to share that enthusiasm with younger students. My aim above all else is to get them to the point where they're enjoying studying the subject and are excited to solve problems. It is extremely important for students to understand a problem rather than rote learn solutions. As such the tutorials will largely consist of working through questions. These could be past paper problems or questions I write myself. Long classes can be intense and tiring, I'll usually throw in a 5 minute break half way through to do something completely difference such as a game of count down or countries and capitals. Whilst new to academic tutoring, I am a qualified Sailing Instructor and also have experience as a rowing coach. I understand the importance of adapting lessons to suit the student and do my best to explain problems in many different ways.
Worked as an RYA Sailing Instructor for several years. Gained plenty of experience working with classes of up to 16 children and tutoring adults individually. Briefly worked as an assistant teacher for students transitioning from GCSE to A-level Maths.
